I figured it out, I just had an extra. Which is cool, if you know it is extra, not cool, when you are "where the heck does this go?" If I had to do it tomorrow, it wouldn't take me nearly as long. I spent way too much time trying to get the coolant lines off, before I figured out I could just leave them on and still have enough room.

Thanks for a useful thread. I have an oil leak somewhere around this area on my engine. So those hoses have engine coolant flowing thought them! I thought it was oil (only found the downloads for the 3VZ-E engine today).
Just had the head gaskets done on my engine 58k miles so I know there are no leaks around the top of the engine (I’ve had a good look).
I own a 3.0ltr. V6 Hilux Surf which is the JDM version of the 4-Runner. There are LOTS of 2.4 & 3.0 Surfs about but my 30 V6 is a very rare truck here in the UK….costs too much to run for most people with gas at $7.50 a gallon and 17 MPG.
Regards,
Paul

I've decided to change the gasket on my oil cooler (91 3.0) to try to aleviate my oil leak. How does this thing come off? Is it the big nut in the middle? I'd hate to take that nut off and actually be disassembling the cooler instead of just removing. Also, anything special need to be removed to pull this thing off, or is it just a lot of knuckle busting?

Discovered some models have 24mm others 32mm. Also lists part numbers, I think parts guy said good for 89 thru 95. Same part guy didn't know about head washer though, go figure.

Replacing my oil cooler seals today while I'm in deep doing my timing belt, oil pump seal, water pump etc.. My oil cooler nut is not a nut, but is a allen key bolt, i assume after market, but struggling to get enough torque to get the dang thing off, only hand tools. Any one else run into this one? 94 4runner rwd 3.0
