Just bought one of these a few weeks ago.

With the bracket the gasket and new bolts plus Pa sales tax I think it came to around $ 185

haha- i found the receipt from my bracket. it wasn't the only thing i purchased. the total was about 300, the part, gasket, and screws were roughly 190. i got some other bolts, another dash something, and a few hoses. haha wow. that was like two years ago

it was easy to install with the tank out of the way. oh, and it's raining today, and i can confirm that my fuel pump bracket is dry

Ill have to do something similar to keep it dry in the future.
I soaked the bed bolts with PB blaster yesterday and will again today. I wont have a chance to work on it till tuesday.

I POR-15'd the entire rear section of my frame while I was there. Figured it wouldn't hurt.

Started taking the bed off last night. All the nuts but one came right off with my impact. I had soaked them in PB blaster for 3 days straight. The one that didnt come off spun the tab around and bent it up a bit. I was trying to put vise grips on the tab to keep it from spinning but I just cant get a good bite on it. I guess Ill have to use my dremel to cut that one. Im kinda scared to make too many sparks. The one that didnt come off is the very front one on the drivers side so its not near the leak. Ill probably still soak everything with a waterhose before I start cutting.

um, i might try a hack saw or hobby saw before a dremel, for the sole purpose of avoiding sparks. and actually, when i was making my cold air intake mount (supra afm in my sig), i found it much easier and faster to use hand tools to cut

then my only other suggestion is to BE CAREFUL. i would hate to see 19 gallons of liquid fire blow up in your face. remember: it's not the liquid that burns, it's the vapor

edit: you might also be able to drill it out

The tank is almost empty and the filler cap has been off for a day or two so hopefully I should be fine. I may just hang some wet towels around like a shield and have an extinguisher handy.

Drilling it might be the easiest way if I can get it to hold still enough.

My bed is pretty rough. Actually, it's very rough. When I had two of them spin on me, I used a hole saw and just drilled through the bed to get at the captured bolts. I welded the holes shut when I was done. Then I replaced all the bed bolts with brand new OEM pieces and used antiseize on them.

i would make sure you not parked in the garage so you cont catch the garage/house on fire..

i have faith in ya.. you will get it done..

just drill out the bolt from the top of the bed.. thats the easy way..

I have no problem taking a holesaw to the bed in one spot. The area above the exhaust is rusted away so it's not a gem. It's parked outside the garage.

will you could always just have your old lady spraying you the whole time your grinding away the bolt.. iam sure it would make you more determine to cut the bolt and plus it would prevent any fire.. not to mention you would be soaken wet..

I have this exact same repair to do on my '91 4Runner. It looks like your pump bracket only has 2 hoses. Mine has 3. I hear that is the difference between a 17 and 19 gallon tank, with the 3 hose version being 17 gallons. I'd love to upgrade to a 19 gallon tank.
I snapped 2 of the bolts holding the skid plate up but managed to not snap any of the bolts holding the tank up. My temporary repair that got me home is holding up ok but the raw fuel smell is starting to come back. Nothing looks wet yet. When it went, I lost 1/4 of a tank in 15 miles!

I used a holesaw bit and made a 2.5" inch hole in the bed and had a buddy of mine hold the tab and we got the bed off.


The lines are just crumbling right here. Its strange cause everything else under the truck is fairly clean. Bad news is that 5 of the 7 bolts broke off when I was trying to take them out. I even soaked everything in PB blaster for a bit.


I was still able to remove the bracket from the tank.


I tried using vise grips but couldnt get a bite on the little pieces left in the tank.


I switched the fuel pump over to the new bracket with the new gasket.
One of the wires has a 7mm nut and the other has an 8mm. weird.


SO now I'm not sure how to get the little bolts out of the tank. I guess I could drill them out and hopefully not trash any threads. If I go this way I guess I have to drain the tank and try not to get metal in the tank...
I looked and didnt see a drain on the tank anywhere.
My buddy that helped me take the bed off barfed in the woods from the gas fumes. Ive been woozy all day.

Between all this and UK losing to ole miss I would have to say its been a pretty crap day.
