Do a search for ZUK coils. I did this to my truck and it was a really really easy upgrade.

Welcome to the forums!
I saw ZUK parts as an option also while looking up general info
but have decided that this is NOT the right option for me

I am thinking this is going to be my plan of attack for this!!
Front IFS will get ball joint spacers (1.5") @ upper arms
+ leave the turns of the torsions as they are
Rear axle will retain the blocks that are in there now
+ replacment OE springs and shackle spacers @ 2"

I am just thinking aloud for now
but here is my delima (or so I think!)
I need to replace the rear shackles + bushings as they are worn BAD
with that said I can gain the little bit of lift I am looking for with just these
shackles and bushings that need replaced anyhow.

I am also on a steep learning curve as ALL of this info is foreign to me
Does yotatech have a sponcering vendors webpage links page??
It would help me to sort some of this info if I knew some of the aftermarket parts companies.. That would help me to sift some parts options

I allready know that I am going to get HOOKED on this lift stuff!!!!
+ parts are reasonable $$ VS. the VW aftermarket pricing that I deal with!!

I bought some after market coils to remove the rear sag, it removed it but made the ride terrible.

Did your rig come with coils from the factory?

Sounds like one heck of a plan. Keep us posted on your progress and be sure to ask questions along the way.

Not to pry but why did you shy away from the ZUK mod?

Just curious as to why the coil isnt appealing.

Heh..VWs are expensive. My ex-girlfriend has an '04 Beetle. Her head light went out and it cost $90 for the head light unit, plus $70 for installation. She wouldn't let me do it for some reason.....

I'm new to yota's aswell however not new to the wheeling scene. I converted from the Samurai community, there for a better than factory ride with a smaller lift old man emu was the way to go. http://www.rocky-road.com/toyota.html probably has some of the best prices on their stuff. I've heard horror stories about the company, but I've ordered from them half a dozen times with zero problems. http://www.roadlessgear.com/ is also a pretty good place to go, I've had no problems with this company either. I see you are the resident VW tech which is awesome because I have questions but will save that for pm's.

I figure that Replacing the rear leafs with a fresh set of OE's
+ new poly bushings on X2 ends + lift shackels + poly bushing there also
It gives me a few advantages
#1 I get to replace the WORN BS
#2 I get the slight lift I am after
#3 I dont have to add weight of springs
#4 I dont have to weld spring perches to the frame

and add this:
even if I was to add the springs, I am still stuck with the worn parts

I did see 1 advantage
If I was to add a bit of toung weight I could swap springs to compensate
but we are talking about a 22re and at most 2 full size 4wheelers + camping
LOL

Well I can't argue with any of that. I was lucky in that the only thing that was a little worn on mine were the leaves. They had become a little flat after 20+ years.

Keep up with the build ideas and questions.

Congrats on the purchase Dub Tek! Nice truck!

I am a dubber myself. It was a tough move here from the 'vortex. I am just used to the bagged & slammed, pulled & stretched world. Tell you what though - I am so hooked now its sad. Yotatech has been a huge help for me since I came here knowing virtually nothing about 4x4s.

Good luck!

Seams that there are plenty of 89' sets
but I have yet to even see an 88 set anywhere
I have my set on order so I can really start to see what makes this thing tick....

As for this project
I am NOT going to be going crazy like I did on the rabbit..
Just cant justify spending another $30K on some 20+ year old vehical
I will however be adding some parts here and there
small shackle/leaf lift + some ball joint spacers
quick disconnect swaybar ends....for when the road ends and the fun begins
MAY even get into a rear locking diff....Ill have to try the stock setup in the muck first
some 31-10.50X15
a few small interior + exterior swaps from sr5's+jdm's....
Would like to find some more info on front brake swaps...rotor/caliper upgrades..t100 maybee??

I am planing on adding a second electrical fuse/relay/battery box
to CORRECTLY power the following:
HID headlights
Pair of yellow round's
set of 4 squares @ 1,000,000 each
Tow hitch mounted/swapable front/rear winch via towing reciver mounts (2 quick disconnects)
CB radio @ 100 watts - HAM radio @450 watts......kb8tbo
cd player + sub
GPS
air compressor
AC power inverter to power my laptop
+ possibly a secondary rear electric heater

ALL of that will be over some time

I have a bit of body work to get through first as I live in the rust belt (ohio)
Looking for METAL replacment rear quaters that are NOT $275 each
but they need to be new + shipped here as ALL the wrecker parts are worse then mine are..lol

4runnerx3 you have return pm

Tek.
