Combination Turn Signal and Parking Lights...w/ Budbuilt Pics!
Okay, so I have been doing a little bit of work on the '86. I've installed a Sonoran Steel IFS brace, some 31" MTs, and some low-pro bumpstops. I also removed the behemoth of a front bumper I had, and realized that I had no place to mount my turn signals. So, I wire tied them to my grill, and went on my merry way. However, I grew tired of the Whiskey Tango look, and decided to turn my Parking Lights in to combination Parking/turn Signals.
Here you can see my wonderful grill:
This what the Parking Light looks like with the stock connector in place:
I removed the connector, and dremeled out the mounting tab, shown here:
I then found a socket for a 1157 bulb:
The parking light has a green and a white wire to it, and the turn signal does as well. The green is power, and the white is ground. To connect everything up, I used the two white to create a common ground, and attached it to the socket with the spade tab.
The 25W filament of the 1157 is used for the turn, and the 7W is used for the parking light. I determined which was which by trial and error, as the socket does not label the respective wires.
Here you can see one side done, and other in progress:
And the finished product:
In addition to the other stuff, I installed a BudBuilt single case crossmember and skid. These things are freakin BEEFY!
Installation was straight forward. Support the tranny/case, remove old stuff, install new stuff. You will need a new low-profile drain plug for your case, and a 10mm allen to tighten it down.
12" isnt much, especially with the 90* angle this thing has:
A nice side shot:
And an up close and personal shot:
I gained a full 2.5" in some areas of the skid, and no less than 2" all around. So, from 27" tires and a stock crossmember, to 31s and a BB, I have gained 4" of clearance, and with the SS brace, a nice new skid mount as well..
Fergie

I dont see myself going to duals any time in the near future, so this was a good investment for me, especially since I got hung up on the stock one several times last wheeling trip.

Well, I've got some 3/16" plate in the garage that I'll cut up to reinforce and brace the front crossmember, and then....I have no idea.
The bumper will have an integrated winch mount, although it wont receive the winch right away. Something lo-pro, most likely out of square, don't like the round tube stuff much for a front bumper.
