I got all the prices for the other parts I need for this 5 speed swap, so its time for the clutch.

I've never looked into clutches that much. I know a some about how the work but not good brands. Anyone have an opinion to share? I couldnt find a product reviews folder, so I thought to post here.

Yes, I agree that Yotatech needs a clutch review page or thread. I wasn't sure what to use either (upgrading stock clutch). Assuming you're talking about the 3.0, I noticed a lot of built trucks were using Centerforce clutches. Based on that and the lack of complaints about it, I went ahead and got the Centerforce 2 Dual Friction set. It has centrifugal weights on the pressure plate that increase clamping pressure with engine speed, and a special disk w/a different friction material on each side. Be advised that this kit DOES NOT include the pilot bearing or throw-out bearing, so you'll still have to buy those seperately. Hope I've been helpful, and the 5 speeds are nice!!

i got a clutch kit from napa works great for what i do... you could get a marlin crawler clutch wich are great they have all the parts you need to

Cool, thanks for the info so far. I have the throwout fork and bearing, but I'm not sure about the pilot bearing.

Did the product review folder get deleted?

im runing there stanard clutch and flywheel nothing really fancy just what i could aford i think i paid around $330 and mine came with the pilot bearing and the throwout

and what about clutches from Auto Zone or Pep Boys? Will those hold up?

the best clutches are ones that use springs instead of rubber blocks on the clutch disk. toyota used both types over the years, but the sprung disks feel better, as the springs don't get hard and brittle like rubber.

also check on ebay, daikin clutch kits often go for $60-70.

I've always read and herd that Toyota OEM clutches are they way to go. Buy one from Marlin. $200 bucks and it comes with everything...plus you KNOW its not cheap junk.

rocket has a very good point about Marlin. I would be hesistant about buying a very intregal part such as a clutch from e-bay. It's kind like one of those things like you get what you pay for, don't pay much and don't get much. IMO there are just a couple of things in life that you just don't skimp on , clutches, internal engine parts, and the most important TOILET PAPER. What ever you buy spend some good money on a proven product, you can't go wrong !

yea toyota clutchs are great i had a little over 170k on the stock one the way i drive it did pretty well

Same setup here except I also have a Centerforce Heavy Duty flywheel. They have been great but you could (almost) put two Toyota replacement clutches in for what it costs to go with Centerforce stuff. Can't go wrong buying one from Marlin.

Years ago I put a TRD HD clutch and a 5 lb heavier flywheel in mine. I can't emphasize how nice that heavier flywheel is with the 3.0. I can just let the clutch out at idle on my '95 and it takes off. Same technique on my '99 kills the engine.

I haven't seen the heavier flywheel in years though.

I had the Centerfore DF in my 95. And I just bought a Centerforce DF for my 92. I bought it on ebay for 240, pretty cheap. The same price as summit, but summit has a handling fee.

I also aquired a heavyweight flywheel, going to give it a try.

What pilot and throw-out bearings are being used. I used Toy stuff when I did the clutch on my '95. Is there anything better??
