Charge/Brake Light On, Alternator OK

and so it was [the brushes]. the originals were pretty worn, as well as the copper surface (slip rings) on the rotor end where the brushes make contact (deep grooves worn). took the alternator out of the ‘88 parts runner, which has the 3.0 - the alt body and pulley are different, but everything else is the same, so i gutted the frame of the original and installed the rotor, rectifier, regulator, brushes, and stator into the case halves. took about two hours to swap everything over and install, but it works, and no more dash lights (brake/charge) on.
