Sportz tent is the mfr of this one, but there are other companies too. Sportz makes several sizes, and I believe there is one more size up from this that has a "patio" area as well.

I found mine on ebay for about $159, but its been awhile since I purchased it.

If you don't fit in the back at first you can remove the bottom rear seats to add another foot or so to the length of the bed.

I'm 6'2, 250lbs. If I'm by myself I fit nicely in the back on a slight angle. If I'm with the girl, I take out the seats, otherwise my knees start to hurt.

I usually bring my cordless impact drill so it just takes a couple seconds to remove the seats. I've seen the front hinges on the rear seat drilled through and replaced w/ a cotter pin for quicker removal. I couldn't decide if I felt that was safe enough or not so I haven't tried myself.

My buddy is 6'6 and he sleeps fine w/ his girl in the back of the 4runner, even without the seats removed.

I sleep very well in the back of my truck and quite regularly. Having a rear window switch in the back makes it much easier. I love the comfort of it. It's like a firm bed crossed w/ a waterbed.

all this talk about sleeping, but no one mentions which end you keep your head & what is your reason. i am going to build a sleeping platform and want to consider sleeping arrangements for access easability.(i totally just made that word up)

my head is towards the front..

back end sags more then the front, especially with bodies in the bed.

easy to access center console, I just need top put a second switch that is always hot, near the front.. or relocated the current switch.

thanks...makes sense, why not just make the rear window switch always hot? then you don't need to add another switch, unless locating one in the back is what you want.
4crawler has a write up on making the rear switch hot, i took his idea and jumpered the board pins.....just an idea.

In the 1st Gen 4runners, its 5'7" form the closed tailgate to the folded down seats, so not long enough for most of us. I'm building a raised platform to sleep on that is level with those folded rear seats and gives me and extra 10" which is plenty of space.

This way I can store my gear underneath as well. The only downside is that with the higher mattress height, it make certain activities a little more challenging, but that's 1/2 the fun of it anyways.

No downpours, but the "sock" zips up on the tent side and has several attachments to the vehicle including several straps that tighten the seal around the truck.

I can take more pictures of it this weekend after we set up camp.

Post number 87, 6th picture. I'm 6' 1" and about 185. Believe it or not with the truck bedz mattress in there there was plenty of room for all of us.

I had a 2 pc - 3" thick foam mattress made to fit. More durable than an air mattress.

Finished!

I built a bedframe for the back of my 88' 4runner. As any of your know, the truck bed itself is only 5'7" long, which isn't quite long enough to sleep most of us. Plus there is the issue of all the gear you probably brought with you. So this bed is raised up high enough to come just over the folded rear seats and bear its weight on the brackets attached to your roll bar.

I made it so it hinges in 2 places to allow longest bed possible and for a possibility of having the rear seats usable while it is inside the truck. When not in use, it folds up to be under 4" thick, 47" wide and 35" long. In the truck, it affords 12" storage underneath for all your gear.

This was my prototype 1st attempt, I'm not 100% satisfied with the results, so I'm moving onto prototype 2nd attempt.

Are you using the frame and all or just the mattress?
