My Google-Fu has failed me. I've decided that I'm tired of the shift solenoids acting up and so I'm gathering parts together to replace them all. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find a part number for the #4 solenoid that lives inside the transfer case. I seem to remember it's the same as either the lock-up solenoid or shift solenoid inside the tranny. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I took another stab at finding the part numbers for the shift solenoids and scored (I think). It looks like the #4 solenoid which is in the transfer case is the same part # as the shift solenoids in the tranny.

#1, #2, #4 solenoids (shift solenoids) 85420-22080
#3 solenoid (lock-up solenoid) 85420-30110

It also looks like the solenoids have been replaced with newer versions which are a bit smaller, but are still supposed to be direct replacements. The older style have tan plugs and the newer ones have blue plugs (unconfirmed).

Replaced the solenoids. Took a few hours to do. It's not hard, but it's a messy job and you really need a large catch tray because draining the pan doesn't remove all the fluid that's going to come out of there. Removing the filter is another mess in the making. The good news is that the tranny is much better behaved now. It actually sequences thru the gears smoothly like it was supposed to now.

FYI, expect about a gallon of fluid to come out the bottom the transmission. Most of it will drain using the drain plug. But about a pint will remain trapped and spill when you remove the pan. The filter holds several ounces worth of fluid.
