Nah..lol checked that..although when I do put on my emergency parking brake, no light is on the indicator instrument panel.

Maybe something to do with it?

The good news.... with that bad of mileage, it should be some simple problem.

I would start by making sure it coasts freely on flat road, then check for fuel leaks in the tank or elsewhere.

I would definitely check the catalytic issue, try disconnecting.... are you having major loss of power?

I consistently get 260 miles / 418 kilometers out of a tank. I have a 5 speed manual transmission with the 3 liter in my 4Runner and never go above 75 mph. My friends with the auto tranny usually get about 2/3 the mileage I get as a reference point.

Do you smell gasoline? I would think that the truck would have serious fumes burning / leaking that kind of gasoline. Are you putting a full tank's worth of gas in there when the fuel gauge reads empty? I know that sounds stupid, but it could be reading empty early. I typically have to put 16.5 gallons in my truck when empty.

It's been over a week now... have you figured anything out yet?

I'd say to find a different mechanic.

I can't believe he would send you down the road without trying to figure out whats wrong.
