88' 4runner 3VZE Fender Liner Repair

Hey! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've got a sweet 5spd V6 88' 4Runner that I love, and the other night I ran over some kind of metal debris on the highway and blew out the front passenger side tire pretty dramatically. It shredded the tire and fender liner, which isn't such a big deal, but the metal (aluminum?) piece that anchors the front of the running board into the base of the wheel wheel got blown clean off and I can't find a replacement online, partly because I'm not sure what it would be called to search for. Any ideas? And any advice about how to remount it to the wheel well since the blowout ripped it clean through the sheet metal? Thanks!

Notice the running board is sagging, normally it's anchored in the front to the missing piece. It's also screwed into the bottom of the sheetmetal on the side but that can't hold a person's weight probably.

Fender liner pretty much toast, metal anchor point for running board MIA

Here is a picture of the missing part that I need to replace and install, on the driver side.

The attachment points for the missing piece are also toast. I think I hit someone's exhaust pipe that was on the highway and it wiped out that entire wheel area.

ouch. unfortunately, those running boards were not toyota, but rather, specialty items, added either by dealers or dedicated custom shops. i have a set on one of my '87s. your best bet is going to be used, either via auction sites or a junk yard.

the same custom shop/dealer added the rubber "door guards/bumpers" along the lower edge of the door and rear quarter.

Thanks again-- I'll check it out. Right now, my plan is to get some sheet aluminum the same gauge as the other side, trace the other side and then cut out a duplicate with the new aluminum and paint it, then JB weld some washers around the ripped out mounting and reattach it. I'm pretty sure that the mount piece in the wheel wheel is aluminum-- I might have to put some rubber spacers or something in the wheelwheel mount to avoid bimetallic corrosion: it doesn't look like the other side has that but it can't hurt. I'll have to hammer the board itself flat at the front since whatever I hit bent it up, but I think I can bend it back once without cracking it. Then I should be able to just screw everything back together. Fortunately it's not a complicated shape or anything so I think it should be pretty easy to snip out and fabricate a replacement. Famous last words lol.

I took mine off my 88 when I got it. Mine were bolted in under the mud flaps. I'm going to be out of town for a few days, but can send the parts you need. Shipping shouldn't be that much.
