87 4runner 22r runs rough

So i have an 87 runner that I completely rebuilt the motor on... New crank, block, pistons, rings, head, valves, everything. Motor has about 7k on rebuild. I removed the EFI and went with a 32-36 dgev weber Carb. My truck ran great, and I took it to the sand dunes for a weekend of wheeling. Ever since then it hasn't ran right. i have check all connections, and they all seem in tact. I have replaced fuel pump/filter, cleaned the air filter. Replaced cap and rotor, coil, and purchased a weber rebuild kit and rebuilt it. New gaskets and O rings and crush fittings, along with needle and float. I have checked timing and fuses. Evrything is good. My problem is it has a rough idle and extremely poor excelleration. My plugs are cocoa brown, so it seems as if fuel ratio is perfect. its a manual five speed, when starting on a hill it wants to die. I have to burn the heck out of the clutch to get it to start up a hill. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Especially if you have a weber there several vacuum lines that are not used that need caps. Try spraying a small amount of starting fluid around the carb and intake while its running. If the idle gets smoother there is a leak somewhere. Be careful not to spray too much that stuff is very flammable. Hope this helps.

I just rebuilt the carb and yes made sure everything was sealed properly. The only vacuum line coming from the Carb is the vacuum advance which is working, and all others are stock brass capped. Everything is tight and sealed.

Just thought of something else. when I first installed my weber carb it ran rough until I adjusted the choke. they are supposed to be factory set but mine was staying slightly closed causing it to try and dump more fuel. just a thought

Thanks, but I already checked that, choke is functioning perfect. Wide open when warm.

Finally diagnosed my problem. Turns out the distributer shaft was worn and causing the rotor to spin and not contact all the teeth on the cap. Also idle fuel adjustment screw on weber is worn on the tapered portion causing it to run rich. So after a new distributed and pick up coil it runs great still a little rich, just waiting for the new screw from Pegasus auto racing.
