No prob. Thanks for searching and reading. Welcome to the site.
I am running 4.56's with my 31's and a 5 speed. I gained more drivability out of that then I did with a full LC Engineering header/ exhaust package.

Awesome! Thank for the suggestion. I was weighing the options, re-gearing, or building the engine, and re-gearing seemed like the easier/less expensive option. It'll be a month or two before I can get to that project, (budget permitting) but I've got all the time I need 'til Fall semester starts.

Oh, kiyo, the only question I had about re-gearing is how much top end will I lose? I would definitely love more power, but since I live in the heart of CT, I usually spend a few hours on the highway to get out into the woods. The way it rides now I have to be doing 70mph downhill to put it in fifth, and 80 on flat ground to keep it there. It's great on fuel like that. How does yours run on in the top gears?

You won't lose any. It doesn't "create more power," You move the powerband (roughly 2800-3200) rpms close to the stock (28's and 4.10's) position.
I can stay in fifth all day on the freeway, whether it be 55 or 80. I rarely have to downshift, unless its a mountain pass. 2800 rpms is about 65mph, 3000 is 70mph. 22-re's are happy revving right there.
when I had 4.10's and 31's, I had a hard time holding speeds in 5th gear, period.

Sweet!!! I'm sold then. I really don't like having to run the engine at 3500 rpm to have power up hills. Guess i should start looking for parts and prices, then. Thanks!!

I travel up a mountain pretty steep one at that every day to work about a 15-20 minute climb at 3500 RPM in 3rd gear at 45-50 miles per hour.

Hey im trying to build my 1995 4runner and i have no clue where to start. So far i have a new two chamber flowmaster and 2 hella 700ff light kit. I just don't know what to do performance wise. Any help? or any advice you would give me on what to start on?

I would start a new thread in the 86-95 section (https://www.yotatech.com/newthread.p...ewthread&f=116). Best way to get a million answers from everyone on that one. There are tons of 2nd gen 4runner guys that know alot about what they're talking about here and can point you in the right direction. Good luck buddy.

94 yota x cab 22RE 4x4 rear differential leak
I had the pinion seal(that's what napa called it) replaced about a month ago on my rear differential and it is now leaking again. Have been told the pinion bearing may be bad and causing the seal to leak. I have no clue about rear differentials, so I'm looking for info on what could be the cause of the leak how to repair. Also thinking about re-gearing. Can anyone tell me what I am looking at cost wise to go to 4.88's? I want to run bigger tires (31's)but not have speedometer be off too much. Thanx.

5 speed? Auto? Makes a difference. 4.88's around here between craigslist and junk yards go between 350 and 500 for the set. 4.88's, 31's, and a 5 speed your speedo will be way off, that set up with an auto will be close to right on.

Threads like this are why yotatech rules. Helping out the newbs instead of insulting them is something that doesn't often happen on other toyota forums. I remember feeling like an idiot when I was learning about my first yota back when Monica Lewensky was still wearing her sticky dress. I would have loved to have had acess to all the information that is available on here. (if you take the time to look for it)
