Yep, that is one of the best Toyota axle tech sites.
Basically he is right.
Where you highlighted his quote, it is talking about 27 spline PINION shaft. This is where your driveshaft flange is bolted on to your pinion(the big nut holds it on).
What you are wanting to know is about axle splines and ring gears. Yes the 86-95 rears are 8" ring gear and 30 spline axles. UNLESS it is 2 wheel drive.
What you see on the site might be talking about front lockers.

My truck is kinda screwy because as to my knowledge it's a 2x4 body on a 4x4 chassis (or maybe a whole 2x4 truck converted to 4x4.) So I'm always really cautious before buying parts like this just incase other areas of the truck have been swapped around.

I had a 1989 truck with a 22R, automatic. The registration papers said it was a one tonne. It used to carry a camper to Cali and back to Canada every year and that's about it. I thought it was a typo when I saw "one-tonne" written on the reggy, but the suspension actually did take nearly one tonne of coarse gravel the summer I owned it. I never noticed whether it was a 7.5 or 8" diff, but in theory it was a one tonne and I know it had a 22R motor.

I know I'm also a little late to this party, almost 15 years late, but I have a 1989 22r 2wd, what are the chances I have a 7.5"?
