3vze cold start injector advice

Well then injector seems to be fine . I'm starting to think that it's just a coincidence that its not working now that its cold. I have no idea what to check now. I read that everyone checks codes. Don't I need a scanner for that? The nearest mechanic says they don't have an 0b1 so they said they couldn't do anything. I keep reading about the paper clip used to check things. Is that helpful? One last thing. I pulled the plugs. They were wet with fuel. Could there be too much fuel causing it not to start? Or is the excess fuel from the coldstart injector spraying every time I crank it?

Look in engine and open little black cover by fuse panel. Connect paperclip between TE1 and E1, diagram in cover. Make sure that you have it right.
Now turn key on but do not start it. Count the flashes of the check engine light. Codes are double digit numbers. Blinking off and on at 0.26 seconds no codes are set. Starts with lowest numbers and works through codes. 13 would be one blink with 1.5 seconds pause followed by 3 blinks. 2.5 seconds pause next code displayed at the end there is 4.5 seconds pause and then it starts at the top and repeats.
Check engine light comes on when key is turned to on and goes off after it is started. I know you are trying to start it.
Wet plugs makes me think of something else. The connector to the VAFM by air cleaner is connected.
You can start vehicle with the paperclip in, this is when you set timing.
Are your plugs firing, good cap and rotor, plugs, wires.

You can order a new connector from Toyota, there is a five digit number on the connector that is the last five digits of the part # all connectors use 90980 as the first five digits. Then just repin the connector.

I'm confused here. Under the hood on passenger side there a fuse box. Above it is a connector with tons of spots to put that paper clip. The fuse box has a cover, not the connector directly above it. I'm guessing the connector above it us where the paper clip goes because it has many holes on it. As that right?

Ok after jumping the terminals. It would flash 2 times a about 1 or to seconds apart then 2 more times after 4 seconds. Is that 22? I read that it might be the ect? I just put a new one in though. Any help?

Code 22 is Engine coolant temperature sensor signal. Open or short in engine coolant temperature sensor circuit, Faulty engine coolant temperature sensor, or a bad ecm. Here is a link to test. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...98engineco.pdf

I replaced the engine coolant temp sensor and the injector. I then unhooked the battery to reset it. Now it just flashes over and over. Doesn't that mean there's no problems now? It's starting easily now. But it's warm out. I'll try it first thing in the morning when it's 40 out.

Flashing over and over is no code. If your check engine light stays off your good. There are three engine temperature sensors, actually the one for the cold start injector is a switch. Then you have one for the gauge on the instrument panel. And there is one for the efi system so it can adjust ignition timing and fuel system depending on engine temperature.

According to the other pics on other posts I changed the engine coolant temp sensor. It has a plug similar to the coldstart timing switch. There are three sensors in that area. I haven't changed the third. It looks nothing like the 2 others. I went out this morning to start it. It took a lot of cranking but it started, which is a change because normally it wouldn't start at all. It was just a lot of cranking though. What's left to check? It seems like I've done and checked everything that has to do with coldstarts. Need help. Any mechanic I talk to is a waste of time because they have no clue about our Toyotas.
