To run your engine without the PCV system functioning as designed is foolhardy. You will gain NOTHING, and your engine will LOSE a great deal of its lifetime via internal corrosion and excessive wear to critical components.

But I'm sick and tired of explaining why. Do your own homework...

Hey OP, your rainbow sig is a major eyesore. Just sayin'...

We have ours setup to function as they did when they left the factory. If we know any better that is...

Because deleting the PCV system es muy estúpido!!!

In all honesty not having a Pcv valve is not going to hurt anything.....

I run an Edelbrock breather and an over sized (Big Block Chevy) PCV valve. I have never had any problems.

To avoid embarrassment on the road, disconnect the valve. To avoid embarrassment among your peers, keep the valve hooked up and fix whatever is wrong with the engine that causes it to produce blue smoke.

A properly built engine in good shape won't blow smoke through the PCV. You've got another issue there. I'm no expert, but it sounds like blowby or a bad pcv to me. Throw another pcv valve on there if it's not new and see what happens, they're cheap.

I have put in a new pcv and it didn't help any. It is a completely rebuilt engine and I'm guessing the rings haven't broken in yet

I know this thread is in all directions but I'll throw my .02 in there because I have thought about running a breather. butttttt... what I think I'm going to end up doing in running a catch can. I really am not a favor of oily residue being put into my intake manifold. most of it isn't burn and it just accumulates over time.. pull off an intake with even 100k miles on it and you will see what I mean. I always ran catch cans on my turbo cars because I didn't want to deal with that sludge in my mani.... Just a thought...

Engine was just completely rebuilt I don't think the rings have broken in yet so i think I'm getting a little blow by until it breaks in

I'll join in the 4 year old side tracked thread.

I also run catch cans "filters" after my PCV before the plenum.
On my freshish 22re I get about 1/2 cup of oil every 3,000 miles.

I also like the Idea of a catch can and think I will add one on all my trucks once I get good parts sourced. I think the system will go crank to pvc valve to hose to catch can and an air filter on the other side of the catch can. I would like to see some pictures to help in ideas for the set up if anyone has any.

I know the concept is to send it back into the truck to be re-burned for emissions purposes but that does add a lot of junk to the system. I am not sure how my 22re is set up but on my FJ60 the pvc valve vent runs up to the side of the air filter so it all has to go through the air filter before going into the carb. This is good but it sure makes a mess of the air filter. After a while when you remove the air filter is has a large oily section on the filter and you need to flip it around.

One of my 22re trucks has a small filter on the end of a 1/4 hose that hangs down under the EFI throttle body. I haven't looked into what it goes to but some kind of breather that blows excess oil under the hood and makes a very small oily residue on some of the near buy parts.

Pcv is positive crank ventilation and the front one is just the opposite

sorry trying to understand, and im really just curious, the pcv valve opens at certain times to allow valve gasses through to intake, but the other hose is always "open" and comes and goes to/from the same places so it seems like the pcv wouldnt do any thing when closed or open because the gasses would just take the path of least resistance... thanks
