i will tell u exactly what u need to do as i have just done this i put a 83 22r tht i had previously in my 86 2wd into my 94 4wd xtra cab.. after pulling the engines. first swap the stffining brackets on the sides of the block .. pull the wire harness out. and open it up.. trace the wires that come from the plugs to the transmission and pull them out of the harness and whichever ones that do not go into the white plug that plugs next to the ecu. cut em and tape them. tht will give u your speed sensor.. ditch the rest of the harness and the ecu.. you do not need a different gas tank .. dont listen to anyone who says u do.. the supply line to you fuel pump gets hooked to the line ur re fuel filter hooks to. just cut the threaded conecter off slide the line on and clamp it. and then pull the efi relay out of the under hood fuse box. and then what i did on my truck was use the coil out of my 86 and and i found a hot wire off the ignition switch tht was only hot in the on position and ran a wire from it to my coil. and in my 94 the wire tht went to the starter solenoid was missing.. so i ran another wire from the ignition switch to the starter... so anyone telling anone else u need a diff gas tank.. no u dont.. the mech fuel pump pulls through it just fine. and if u have a truck with a speed sensor not a cable.. it can still be hook up.. i had this truck going from sitting with a blown 22re to running my 22r in about 4 hours.. its not hard. and to be honest. with my heddman header and weber 36/38 i have more power to pull hills and wheel than i did with my 92 reg cab with a re in it...

i probably caught this to late to help u out.. but if u have any other questions.. ask me.. im proof it can be done WITHOUT fuel pressure regulator and changing gas tanks and etc etc.... if u have the 22r and the re powered truck.. u dont need to spoend any money to do this swap and u dont need to take the bed off.. and idk what u paid for a pressure regulator... but i guarentee.. itll just wind up frying the electric pump.. do what i said and u wont have any problems

in my situation I cannot use a mechanical fuel pump because there is not a plunger on the camshaft to operate the mech fuel pump, so a regulator is what i have to use on my truck, im guessing this motor was actually an RE with a manifold from a R on it

never had a body lift on anything ive owned, dont like the looks of them personally , so once the front end breaks it will be coming off when the straight axle goes in, dont know why or who did it but it is just 2 body lifts stacked on top of each other deffinately ghetto

only thing different for the 22r you need is the fuel tank, since it uses a mech pump and different pickup in the tank, beyond that, its a straight fit, just a few extra wires hanging around you dont need from the 22re

well a lil minor wiring, you got a choke and fuel cut off solenoid to deal with but thats pretty easy
how do u cut the choke n fule I trying da same
