i hope by the time they reach there middle 20's they have no hearing left at all it would serve them right. i live in a real quiet neighborhood and about once a day some jackass will drive threw rattling everyone's house disturbing the peace and probably thinking he is hot sh** while doing it. it pisses me off quiet frankly. there was one day the same car drove by 4 times in about an 20 min period of time, i walked into my bedroom loaded my gun put on my shoulder holster and was waiting for him to drive by again to stop him in the road. now i have been an musician for the majority of my life, and really enjoy listing to music but its all about balance not about how hard your system can thump
its not like an earthquake driving by or anything..

lol now do I have to say anything about bass lol. Mine is loud enough to make my rear door hover in and out and also my rear doors lol. I did a competition the other weekend and I used a buddies amp and I blew out my rear window... Very expensive btw. luckily had the one off my old hatch to put on. Its all about personal preference. If someone wants overkill bass then let them have fun. Only thing is my gas gauge I think is slipping lol.

well I'm in my mid 20's so i guess that blows the whole age thing outta the water
I'm all about someone wanting to build a stereo system that sounds good inside of there vehicle without it being audible outside. also there is not enough airspace inside of the cab of a truck to support 12's. I also find it quite annoying when people drive by with there stereo's booming.

I have a 10" in my Toyota, and after having 12s or bigger in every other car I've owned since I was 16 (now 37). The 10 is OK at best... It is all what you are used to having. If a stock setup in all you ever had, and you add a 10 WOW will be what you feel. If like me a 10 is like going back to stock.
That being said, it is up to the ones that have loud setups to keep it down when around homes, or anywhere else older people are hangin out. I use Deadskin sound deadener to keep the bass in the (Chevy) truck so as not to bring on new laws to take my fun away. With the windows up the bass is not loud at all outside of the truck, but inside it is up in the 150 db range. Makes my heart flutter for peanut butter. No 10 could do that.

I have two 12's in the back of the 4runner and i like them. They take up too much space for my liking though.
I think they sound good, they hit hard though if its turned up too loud, my amp is usually at like -5 on the stereo...
But hell, 2 12" jl audio subs, in a tuned box, with a fosgate amp for $110...
Who cares.. that was a good deal.
