Was under the drivers side of my truck today and saw the evap bottom hose, which looks like that pic of yours that I didn't recognize -- but scope103 beat me to you.

Looking at your pics again, I really think that you might want to try capping that second canister opening -- or even have someone put their finger over that opening -- to see if that actuates your 4wd. Should hear it moving to engage I'd imagine and then disengage when moving your finger.

The caps on my ADD delete rotted completely in (guessing here, but) less 10 years. If your vacuum canister's other opening was capped with a similar vacuum cap, it's possible it rotted and fell off...

What I'm thinking is that, I don't know how your ADD system can maintain a vacuum when your vacuum canister is exposed to the open atmosphere...

Hey everyone,

I know it's been a while, but before school started, one of my friends rigged up the 4wd to work (It's good, too, we had 2 pretty big snow storms.) He basically reworked the vacuum lines in some way to get it to work, but it still wasn't right (I had a rough cold idle issue ever since the engine was rebuilt and that continued after my friend helped.) I finally found some vacuum diagrams to try to finally fix the EGR cold idle problem and noticed that my mechanic had totally messed up the lines for the EGR system. I put all the hoses back and now it's running like it's supposed to, no CEL anymore, and I have 4wd when I need. Gotta love that forest of vac lines for this engine :/
