upgrades:
toyota stage one race cam
downey offroad header
flowmaster exhaust system
K&N air filter

With all of these performance upgrades I run mine at 8 degrees on 91 octane fuel. It has plenty of power with this set up.

HI there!

Hey newbiemuela! I noticed you live in Walnut Creek.. I'm just down the highway from you in Vacaville. Anyway, the double row chain kit should in no way conflict with the original timing specs for 1984 22R (which I believe is set at 8 degrees below top dead center.

Now if you choose to advance it even more, that's all fine and dandy so long as it doesn't ping. After that you're destroying your piston tops. AND you will fail a smog inspection. Aside from the fact that it will change the CO ratings on the sniff test, they do actually check the timing and will notice it is not set to factory specification. Stupid California... only thing its good for are the young girls.
