Anyone have a link to the ebay rebuild video that I keep hearing so much about? I have searched ebay a few times and can not find it. Or does anyone have copy they want to sell.
Thanks

agreed.
Slacker....I have VERY LITTLE wrenching history.....ummm about 6 months maybe...so I will take whatever liitle bit of help I can get. FSM / Haynes / Chiltons are valuable in their own ways but mostly worthless to a newbie. nothing beats visual instruction or better yet doing it like I've been doing, trial and error....lot's of error.
Humbling but enrinching.

Buy it now is $15.00. I might try to sneak it in. But just spent a few dollars at HF the wife does not know about. Had to pick up some more consumables. But anyway. The FSM is great, but there are plenty of little things to building any engine that are not in the manuals. For $15.00 if it gives even one tip not in the FSM it is worth it. I'll let you all know when I get it in.

to any of you that have viewed the video does it talk about "quenching" on an engine rebuild. term used by "olharleyman" who sounded like he knew what he was talking about 22RE performace wise.....i can put one back together but was interested in some of the "tricks of the trade" tips......... i have the FSM as well and harleys 7 page writeup on 22RE build covered alot that wasnt in the manual.........
the 22R is on the stand and im trying to gather information. thanks, JJ

If I can't find it in a timely manner, someone post up that long article from ENGBLDR i think it was on pirate? He goes into great depth on explaining what quench is. This was one of my main concerns when rebuilding mine. It's definitely a big deal if your gonna use re-builders pistons, cut the rod journals and use over-sized bearings. In basic terms quench value is how far up or down the piston sits in the cyl bores. a positive quench would be if the piston top is above the block (deck) when at TDC, negative would be below the block (deck) surface. You want to be as flush (0 deck) as possible. And someone correct me if wrong, less than 6 thous positive?

The video is actually pretty good. Many will knock it right off the bat that it is basic, however, just the visual of seeing the process is where the benefit really lies. After watching it, I realized that rebuilding a 22RE is pretty basic, so I guess it's all relative. It also shows how to "lap" the valves, which I have never heard of anyone talking about or doing.
I don't think I would try and repost it for everyone to see, there is copyright information at the beggining and a disclosure from reproducing it. It's only $15.00 so there is really no need for posting it.
