Battery light staying on after pressure washing
Yesterday we pressure washed the eninge of our new 85 22r to find an oil leak. We thought it was the rear main seal and when we removed everything we found it had a brand new rear main seal. So we ended up spraying grease remover then pressure washing the eninge so we can see where we are loosing oil.
After we finished washing I let the truck run, but the battery light will not go off. I assumed it was the altenator fuse, but it wasn't. The only time the light will go off is when you rev the engine at high rpm >4000 and then it will go right back off. The battery voltage with the truck off is 11.70v and with it running at idle it is 11.58v.
What could case the battery light to stay on and cause such a low voltage?

Mine does the same (light goes OFF at high revs) UNLESS i pop the hood, and give the Alt. a good whack with a drumstick. If you leave the engine running while giving it the whack you hear the revs instantly drop (just a fraction) and the light goes OFF.
