Since my thread keeps getting bumped, I’ll chime in with updates. Currently, I’m trying to get the timing dialed in. I thought I had the carb tuned correctly, but the MPG were off, and I had hard starting when hot, so I went back and started from scratch. That’s when I noticed the vac advance on the distributor moving when I throttled it up. The screw, holding it in place had come out allowing it to move. I went ahead and bought a new distributor and installed it, but now I’m trying to get the timing right. I’ll take it out in the morning for a test run and tweak it after I see how it runs under different loads. I still want to do an engine swap and I keep my eye on craigslist for a donor truck.
