84 Exhaust Manifold Cast Iron?
Just looking to verify if the exhaust manifold on a 84 22r is Cast Iron, found a nice big crack in mine today where the 4 turn into 1 and contemplating welding it up, but I know welding cast iron can be a pain.

K, Thanks, hopefully that welding class I took will come in handy since we talked about welding cast iron. I'll pre-heat it by running the engine and weld it up then!

Welded it up, was a good size crack. Pre-heated by running the engine, welded it up, then peened it for a while as it cooled, then closed the hood to retain some of the heat and let it cool for an hour or so, seems to be good.

A note for the next time you need to weld up a crack, especially in cast iron. Find the very ends of the crack, and drill a hole at the very ends of the crack. Does not have to be a very big hole. A crack cannot jump a hole. If you did not, even if your weld was good, it will most likely continue the crack later. Then grind it out, and weld it up with a stick welder, 6011, or flux core.
