I want to change out the bucket seats in my 82 Toyota pickup truck for something a lot more comfortable and was wondering what other seats will work in the 83 and older models? I think I would prefer vinyl.

You can go cheap and get some seats out of a later model pickup with buckets, or just about any junkyard vehicle with a bucket you like. If you have the will, you can make brackets for nearly any seat. I bought these new and they fit rather nicely, but they cost a pretty penny. All depends on your motivation and/or budget.

92-92 civic seats almost bolt right in as do 94-00 integra seats.

And all these seats you mentioned can be easily modified to fit 83 and older Toyota pickups?

Do you know if bucket seats out of a 2002 civic will fit in my 83 toyota? I am not sure if they are much different than a 92 from a mounting standpoint

I found them on Corbeau's website, but I actually like the Moab seat a bit more. How did you mount yours? Did you use the Corbeau seat brackets or did you use the original seat rails?

My 90's Honda or Acura "Seats Wanted" ad on craigslist for my 82 Toyota truck isn't drawing flies so maybe I should consider other seats too??

I have put a bench seat (not stock), then mazda 6 front seats (electric adjustments in the '82 was awesome, it also made me sit higher in the cab), and more recently some bucket seats i got a few years back on craigslist. It is not too difficult to make anything fit in these. If you can, i would recommend removing the existing brackets if they are nasty (mine were) and welding in some new flat iron, or square tubing.

I don't have welding equipment and I don't know how to use it if I did, so how difficult would it be to use different seats without having to weld anything? I could epoxy whatever is needed to the floor though?

Not a big issue if you don't have a way to weld. The brackets on most should fit. I did not use mounting brackets so the sliders bolt directly to the seat mounts in the cab. just used low profile bolts to clear the sliders. DO NOT EPOXY anything. Think of it this way; if you get in an accident the seatbelt will keep you in the seat, but that really doesn't mean anything if the seat is not securely attached to the vehicle. Do yourself a favor and take the time to do this right. Its not worth dying or getting injured over some "sweet seats"

There are lots of good options, doing it the right way will obviously cost more. Took me 2 tries before i felt as though my seats were secure enough.

Find a mounting bracket and it should make your life easier.

I get your point but epoxy is amazingly strong stuff which is why its used widely in aerospace and the boatbuilding industry.

You said to "find mounting brackets" but where do you find them?

Mounting brackets are difficult to find, especially ones that will match up flawlessly. As i recall there are other brackets that will fit, maybe it is the Celica or Camry, can't recall. I am sure you can "customize" something to fit.

If you have experience with epoxy in such a manner then go for it, as long as you aren't getting the Napa Special of the week kinda stuff. I am personally just a metal hardware kinda guy.

In the first gens you want a low profile seat as well, unless you are quite short like me, they don't have a ton of room to work with.
