OK so I have searched to no avail. I have came across an elocker rear from a 90s tacoma And for the price thought it would be a great swap. Now here is my questions; i know they are wider overall but will the springs bolt on the perch or do they need moved ? Secind i know they are kits to do the controls but i have access to the whole set up on the truck. How hard is it to wire the factory elocker computer in? I want to get the whole axle for increased width and the abilitl to run factory sr5 (found a set for a great deal) and the elocker set up for offroading. What is everyones wisdom on this type swap and is/was it worth it for you ? Thanks in advance yota gods of wisdom!!! Also this is goin in a 1980 pickup !!

The spring perch spacing is the same as the older trucks. The spring pad width may different requiring different ubolts however.

Thanks !! Was beginnig to wonder if was headed for uncharted territory lol. So with that being said I was looking in to getting the u bolt flip kit with new shock mounts before I put it in. Are you saying that the axle tubes will be a different diameter or springs are wider/narrower?

Put the e locker third in your existing housing ..lot of info for that conversion

I know thereis but this is.my only vehicle/DD so I can't afford to have it out of commission for more than a day. I think it will be easier to put the axle complete under it instead of just the 3rd member

It would, but you'll want to plan something for the front before too long, too. A Tacoma axle is 5" wider than your current rear axle.

I realize the width difference. Its 2 1/2 inches wider on each side. I'm planning on doing the ifs hub swap on the front. If I don't like the width difference after that I will order spacers for it. Will I be able up use the elocker computer and harness or will I be better off buying/making my own?

Wow that's not a bad price but I was thinking that I'd seen somewhere that people had made there own harness`. I haven't really looked yet t the set up for the computer as to whether I can make it work or not. Figured with the locker swap being so common someone by now would have figured out how to make it work easier/cheaper ?

i remember a cable kit to eliminate the electric part.

research for the cable kit, i just found one in my old Downey(out of business) catolog.

the cable eliminates the electric motor which can go out. it is exposed to water, mud etc.

Do you know of anyone who sells the cable kit for them ? Was there a price in your catalog on it ?

Ok thanks bud! Now I know the front end I'm wanting to do the ifs hub conversion but its still goin to be 2inches narrower than the rear. Is there any other way around widening besides a spaced kits.

Sure, a wider front end like a Trail gear or Diamond front axle or Ruff Stuff.

To modify your existing rear axle housing it is making a notch.

I'm not looking to do a complete axle like diamond or the like. That's too much money for my low budget! So I'm looking at being 2inches shy on the front. Guess I could go with the spacers!
