I've been using PureOne filters since '97 and they've done quite well on my very street and track abused turbo Eclipse and since I go 7-8k miles between changes on my 4Runner and it's working great I don't feel the need to try anything else cheaper or more expensive.

Here's a review of a Toyota filter (which I haven't seen anything bad about either)

This filter is manufactured by Denso and is rather unique. For starters, the cartridge has no end caps to speak of. Each pleat is thermally bonded shut at the ends about 3/16" inward. This was accounted for in the surface area measurement, however this filter still has the largest surface area out of the entire group: 160 sqin. The main reason for this is the narrow core tube, which allowed for very deep pleats and thus a very long filter element. A wide core tube is not needed for such a short filter. The filter does use a plastic bypass valve similar to the Fram filter, however I could not make this one leak. It is also held in place by a steel clip rather than plastic tabs like the Fram.

most all the filters have a anti drain back. to the one guy, you have 600k on your 22R? holy crap!! so with 51k on mine I have about 500 years to go!

Wix makes the best filters, after that id say Napa Gold(made by Wix), Purolator(Pure one), a good Toyota one (Aka not a Toyota Thailand filter) is pretty good but Wix is probably cheaper, and the best you can buy.

How can you tell if you are getting a good or bad toyota filter?

so why would you rate the napa gold and pure one better then the yota one? I have heard that as well, just wanted your take.
