l43 tranny help!
on the l43 when i have the revers light switch hooked up the reverse lights are on in every gear BUT REVERSE,when i first got the truck the reverse lights were disconnected for this reason, i took the switch out of a w50 or 52 and it does the same thing.I
know there is some kind of adjustment screw on the bottom of the side case but what does it do?

Sounds like there's something screwed up in your harness, and not the switch itself.
Usually when those switches go, you just lose all backup lights alltogether.
I would start looking in your harness to see if a PO was an electrical "genious" and did some fuunky splices. My suspicion is that the poles have been switched.
As to the toggle, one of the best anti-tailgater mods I've ever done. Wire in the toggle so it runs a second power source that bypasses the switch and goes straight to the lights. When there's a creeper behind you trying to mate his engine compartment with your tailgate; just ease up to a stop sign, set the parking brake, flip the switch, drop the tranny in neutral and rev your engine LOUD!
He will either pass you or stay far, far away.

I honestly think it is the switch or whatever in transmission that hits the switch, because like i said before, the reverse lights do work when the switch is hooked up, but only in every gear other than reverse, there are only two wires to the switch one from 12v and one to the lights, not much to go wrong there, when i bypass the switch the lights come on, when disconnected they stay off, so its not a wiring issue, i tested the switch with a test light and it is open when relaxed and closed when depressed, i think maybe i need one that it closed when relaxed and open when depressed.
