So I want to get my old push/pull steering out and do the upgrade but I want to make sure I have the clearance before I buy the kit. I have read some mfg's say 3" lift minimum, others 4", some say nothing about it. As far as I know, all the kits are the same as far as location/geometry (please correct me if I'm wrong) so they should be the same. I believe I have 3" lift springs, but I don't remember (it's been like 9 yrs) and they have probably sagged some.

What I want to know is WHAT and WHERE is the critical clearance dimension? I assume it's for the pitman so a "top of leaf pack to bottom of frame must be X" at Y" back from center of front spring hanger bolt" or something similar.

Recomendations on which kit to get, or not to get are also welcome. Thanks!

Also read something about an oil pan clearance issue, but might be a SAS issue. Please, get out your measuring sticks and let me know if I can make this happen or not!

Well with basic rough fitting and box placement it looks like I could do crossover with my OME Dakar springs. I might have to trim the inner fender and will have to replace the pitman arm. I don't have any specific measurments like your asking for though. I'm not going to use a complete kit or I should say I'm going to modify a kit to get the best box placement for low lift height.

Get the Marlin Crawler 25mm high steer kit; you'll be pleased.

I also have an Aqualu arm that I'd like to try but still have yet to set up with one of my push/pull trucks. I think steering box placement is critical if you use an IFS box. I have wondered about hacking out the DS stock shock mount and replace with a tube based shock mount that straddles an FJ80 or FJ60 forward throw pitman arm. Just thoughts for you.

Bump - anybody have anything more on this? I understand OME and high steer has been done, but I'm having trouble finding specifics. I'd love to get my ducks in a row before I start hacking into my daily driver.
