coil wiring problem

I have a 1980 swb and a 1981 lwb both 4x4. The 80 is rusted badly and the 81 is in need of parts. It looked as if the coil and exciter would work from the 80 model but i found there is a slight wiring difference.Does anyone know if i can make it work or where i can get a wiring diagram? I have a hayes manual but its very vague. trying to make one truck out of two been interesting so far...
If a rat hadnt ate some of the wiring on the 81 it might not be so bad!

Go to your local Toyota Dealer's service manager and ask him for a wiring diagram for each vehicle. They are usually more than happy to help you but try to see them when they are not so busy. Also, become friends with your Toyota Dealer's parts manager, they can cross reference the parts for you on each vehicle and tell you the differences.

Well I tried the local Toyota dealer and they were no help at all. "We dont go back that far"
is what he told me, and he was kinda rude about it. Any one possibly have a pic of the wiring hookup on the 81? I bought a new coil and it does not have the exciter or the pick-up coil wiring. All the new coil has is 2 male quick connections on it.

I am sorry to hear about the way the Service Manager acted at your local Toyota Dealer. I guess I am lucky because my local Toyota dealer has always done a great job for me with service and searching / finding me parts when I need something. Hell, they even found me a new windshield (spare) for my 1983 truck at some dealer in Arizona.
