best prices on new fenders/ body parts?
Where are some of the best places with the best prices on body parts? I found one place for like $62 for a fender, but every other place I've found are upwards of $180? So I'm wondering if the $62 deal is even legit.

I'm in the same boat, Parts Train advertises the passenger side fender for less than $60 but don't offer the drivers side. I have wondered if this was legitimate as well...pretty cheap and you have to be concerned about the quality.....got to be from China. Hey I have a first post now instead of just lurking about!!

If i remember correctly, my front fenders for a 88 were ~$70 each from JC Whitney about a year ago.

Like I said, I'm wary of this cheap fender and I'm a believer that you get what you pay for...I really don't want to be the Guinea Pig here....somebody buy that $60 fender and let us know!! I have bought a few parts from Parts Train and was happy with the quality--but these were cheap plastic parts that are hard to screw up...They fit and looked fine.

we got some nice pieces for first gens .. http://www.toyotafiberglass.com
but we're not in "competition" with sheet metal tiawan stuff .. not even in the same catagory as our parts .. so if you want "cheep" dont even look at our stuff

Thanks for the replies, I am just new to the pick-up sceen, so I am not sure what to expect, I don't want crap either, then again, I've never thought of JC Whitney as selling high end automotive parts! Thats why I was just wondering if anyone knew what the difference might be. I'm hardly a cheapskate, I've been building and restoring Land Cruisers for allot of years, and nothing is cheap for those.
Anyways, I think I can figure it out. BTW, I really like those high cut fiberglass fenders here... May just have a new plan now! http://www.toyotafiberglass.com

I bought the cheapo fenders from JC whitney. Seemed to work just fine and fit pretty well.

I just scanned ebay and you can get 2wd fenders for dirt cheap but the 4wd ones are twice as much or more.
Are you sure the ones for $60 were for a 4wd?
edit: I didn't realize this was the pre 84 section. The fenders I was talking about were 84-88. Good luck on finding the older generation parts for a decent price.

Mine is an 4x4 88 4runner. The ones i bought fit just fine. One perfectly, and one needed an extra person with me to slightly bend/persuade it to line up for the bolt holes. I wouldnt suggest these for a show truck, but i cant see paying twice as much for any other reason.
Here is what they ended up looking like. I can get better close up shots if anyone really needs them. Let me know.

My truck is an 81....I just picked up a set of genuine NOS 4 wheel drive Toyota fenders for $500 on Ebay ($545 shipped). I think that is a pretty good deal for NOS genuine Toyota parts, at least I know what I am getting. Apparently there were others that thought the same since the (3) sets that were being sold were gone in hours. I consider myself lucky for finding these.....

and that's why I am going fiberglass so people like yourself can build their all steel o/g pickups and I will have a great driver fender and a strait as they come new right side fender not 500 like 100 and whoever pays shipping one off my donor one off mine no dents very little rust around lower bolt hole nothing to worry about
I don't have anything to worry about either, my fenders are new now!! Each to their own- you do things your way and I'll do things my way...Just got tired of body work and bad fitting parts and these are ready to paint. What you aren't taking into account is the labor and time involved in getting your fender ready to paint...Is your time not worth anything to you? Mine is and is better spent in other areas.

Some just to get off the trail I rolled the bronco over a wash out which crushed both front fenders into the 38s took several hours of pounding and ripping to get rolling in turn fenders and inner fender wells wer junk and for me that was not worth it if the fenders smash off well that's great
