haha no thanks, I'll stick with my manual. If I sawp anything it will be to a R151F. But haven't figured out if it has the same 3rd and 4th gear ratios. To me, mine is too far apart.

If I am not wrong again (if I am someone tell me) but trannys and transfer cases do bell housings don't. Only thing I am not sure on is if you have to watch out for top verses forward shift transfer cases.

t-cases
T cases are interchangable as far as bolting up, spline count of the input shaft is where you might find an issue and top shift and forward shift are of course variations. Check this out for a little bit of info. http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=75938.0

looks like I might be wrong. about the t-case then too. grr, not having a good day today lol.
Looks like the only one that is different was the one behind the 86-87 turbo trans.
all others are 21 spline in and 27 spline out.

Swaps
The real issue arises when swapping from a trans with a chain drive case to a gear drive case. So if your trans came with a gear drive case the swap is much simpler to keep the desired gear drive case. An adapter is required to go from a trans that had a chain drive case to a gear drive case. I'm sure I've forgot some variation or details, as I often do.

I'm all about innovation. and the only reason the toyota autos got such a bad rap was because they wer neglected and people wondered why their 200K mile A340 with the original fluid died on them. well duh! that's more than a TH350, C4, 904...... etc. So do the auto swap and tell us how it goes! AND FOR GOD'S SAKE, build a skidplate for the damn thing! you don't want any rocks coming up to say hi to your valve body.

Just the flanges if you dont feel like drilling out new holes.
No truckman.. Like all auto's, there is a SERIOUS amount of torque loss. (unless you have a shiftkit like in a TH350 or TH400). Plus, the autos have a STUPID overdrive. Like .75 or something like that. Absolutely ridiculous..
Now, put a torque stealer behind an engine with only 110 FT. Lb's, well, it'll feel more like 35.
