Unhappy 1983 toyota 22r overheating

I was riding home yesterday when all of a sudden I notice I lost all heat inside the cab. I kept going for a bit and noticed my temp gauge going up. So I stopped and took a look at a few thing. Noticed coolant was down... when I got home, topped up the coolant and let it run for about 15min. I have heat again but the coolant is foaming up. There is no sight of a coolant leak, or coolant in the oil. Can you please help? What is causing the coolant to foam?

Well the coolant is going somewhere...

If there's no leak you can see, you're either burning it or it's going in the oil.

Sounds like you're losing compression, and it's going into the coolant. You can have your coolant tested for exhaust gas. Or do a compression test/leakdown test.

Could be head gasket...

Probably a head gasket... I would do what he said and maybe do a compression test.

Every diagnosis of an overheating situation should begun with a coolant pressure test. No need to get water in your face if you don't have too...
