yeah, it's about time we got a harbor freight around here.

can't wait.

there is a pretty cool place to pick up cheap tools near the intersection of routes 380 and 286 (sorta near new kensington) called the 380 auction warehouse. (it's on 380 as you can tell by the name--on the left shortly after it intersects with 286 if you are headed awya from pittsburgh.)

Harbor Freight? That's cool. I've always wanted to go and actually browse through one of their stores. There's alot of crap, but some of the stuff is OK. I have a few items...

10% off coupon = me getting a welder

Is this a good unit for a welding newbie. Most i would want to do is make a rear bumber with it and maybe sliders

I just want to know if that welder will be powerful enough for me to fab up a rear bumper.

But you COULD tack something together and have a buddy with a bigger welder or a shop run beads along your joints. Won't get charged as much to have it done this way. They don't have to ˟˟˟˟˟˟ around holding stuff in place...they just lay beads.

Cool. I've ordered lots of stuff from them before. Now I can look at the auctual quality before buying. I was curious about their 12" compound miter saw with lazer.

As a purveyor of fine Horror Fright goods, there are a few things you have to watch out for. But, having one nearby is a great asset for those weekend wrenching job when you need something not carried at Sears. Or if you simply need a tool for one job.

Lately they've been trying to go legit by offering a lifetime guarantee on hand tools. And sometimes they have honest-to-goodness deals. I picked up their mini lathe for $330, and I tell ya I've made at least $5k in -AN fittings with that thing, ha-ha.

If at all possible, avoid anything they sell that uses electricity. If you simply must purchase an electric tool from them, get the extended warranty.
