Heya,

Has anyone been up in the Henrys yet this year? I have to do some field work there in early July, and wondered if anyone knows of any road closures or dicey places to be aware of as you drive up over Bull Creek Pass from HWY 95.

My dad went there a while back and said the roads are not all that bad. There was still snow around, so there may be some erosion later in the year.

Thanks! I was starting to think I was asking about driving to Mongolia (Which from what I've see there would be some killer wheelin'). I'm betting there won't be much snow this year, but I am ready, and even though its for field work and my degree, expect photos of the trip. It's a nice 70-mile drive on secondary dirt roads and peace and quiet away from city living for a while.

Well, its been more than seven months now, but I went in August with good results. I was there mostly for my resarch but I got a good hike in and some good pics of the beast. Here are a few better ones. When I go again I'll bring warmer gear, more cooking gas and less cargo (weight) because the A/T fluid temp light came on 3 or 4 times during the climb to 10,500 feet.

As much as I'd like to be researching the geology, I'm studying the effects of climate change on tree health. I didn't realize how much had burned in the Henrys, and how much was just croaking (very scientific term ) from the heat and dry in the region. Very cool place, I'll be going again.
